Hopatcong was the place to be Friday night as our kids represented Randolph in fine form. Wins were recorded by the Boys 13-15 800 Sprint Medley, the Girls 9-10 4x100, the Girls 800 Sprint Medley AND the Girls 11-12 Shot Put Relay teams! Additionally, Ahsan Huland-El won the Boys 13-15 Shot Put Relay in leading Randolph to a team win in that event as well. There were several other personal bests set throughout the meet. The highlights however were in two races. The Girls 13-15 Sprint Medley team of Meredith Finley, Meghan O'Malley, Amanda Houston and Abby Loveys won the grueling race in 9 minutes, 24.8 seconds, missing the meet record by just 0.6 seconds. The record was held by a Randolph team from 2010 that has gone on to record setting performances at the high school level. The future of girl's track is certainly bright in Randolph. Not to be outdone however, the Boy 11-12 4x100 Relay team of Robert Dong, Andrew Zwillman, David Turner and Chris Keaney SET the new meet record by circling the track in just 54.33 seconds, cutting 0.07 seconds off the previous mark. This won't be the last time we'll be seeing those names in print. Great job to all the participants!

In a year where we had to cancel practices due to snow, participated in a four-hour meet with 420 kids, and beat Mendham for the first time in eight years, why not add a chapter with a rare tri-meet with one of the teams showing up at the wrong track? Well, after a 30-minute delay, the athletes continued where they left off and defeated both Mountain Lakes and Chester in trying conditions. The scoring in a tri-meet is unique, with the top four scorers in each race earning points, and other minor quirks. The most important thing is that with the postseason looming, the kids are in great shape. Please watch the blog for practice schedule updates. Our final regular season meet is Wednesday the 27th against 5-1 Denville. This is the makeup meet from March. Denville's only loss this season was a close contest against Mendham....
